The Mopars at the Strip awards ceremony for the car show, diesel dyno pull-off and Jeep off-road poker run winners is scheduled to take place at noon, Sunday, March 21. Along with the awards ceremony, we will raffle off a '66 Dodge Coronet. The profits generated from the raffle will benefit "The Southern Nevada Fire Fighters Burn Fund" and "The Speedway Children's Charities". Raffle tickets can be purchased for a $20 donation until noon on Sunday, March 21. Winning person need not be present to win.
During the awards ceremony, we will be paying a special tribute to Bob Riggle and the Hurst Hemi Under Glass. Bob is a wonderful ambassador for motorsports world wide. After a long and successful career as an exhibition wheelstander, Bob is planning to retire at the end of the '04 season. Bob will be performing for the last time at Mopars at the Strip. Be sure to attend this year's event to bid farewell to one of motorsports most cherished treasures-The Hurst Hemi Under Glass and Bob Riggle.
The names of the car show winners will be posted in the car show registration tent after 3:30 p.m., Saturday, March 20. All winners should pick up their awards at the show registration tent. Winners are asked to fill out the attached 3x5 cards with the information they would like announced as they participate in the Show-Car Parade of Champions to be held Sunday, March 21. Each winner of the car show needs to be in the staging lanes by 11:30 a.m. to be part of the awards ceremony.
This year, we are allowing all of the winning car-show participants to make a parade pass down the return lane, so that everyone in the stands can see all of the car show winners. At the conclusion of the Parade of Champions, you are free to return to the car show area. Please refrain from doing burnouts or racing down the return road. Violators' names will not be listed in any post-event publications.
Best of show winners will be photographed at the strip for the following categories: A-, B-, C-, E-, and F-Body for both stock and modified classes, Best of Show Truck, Mopar Performance Best of Show, Popular Choice, Kids Choice, Best Appearing Race Car,and the winner of this year's Ultimate Ride award. Awards will also be presented at this time for the Dodge Truck/Diesel Dyno Pull-off, and the winner of this year's Dodge Truck/Jeep Off-Road Poker run. Following the awards ceremony, we will have the final burnout contest for the event. The exhibition class will follow the burnout contest.
