24th Annual Mopar Nationals - Coming Home

The original tunnel-ram used by the legendary Ram Chargers on the "High and Mighty" '49 Plymouth back in 1959 was on display. This new style intake was developed by this group of hobbyists and mounted two Carter AFB carbs over a common plenum and was used on their 354-inch Hemi.

For him, Brice Road means reckless driving, exhibition of speed, reduction in tread depth, and a stiff fine. For others, Brice Road means sheer entertainment.

Heavy hitters Summit Racing and Year One brought their displays out to the manufacturers midway to showcase their Mopar offerings for the masses.

Hot Rod magazine's Pump Gas Drag participants and top 10 finishers Don Vargo and his twin-turbo, fuel-injected, 540-inch Hemi-powered '69 Charger, and James Pranis and his 572-inch, nitrous-injected, Hemi '68 Charger were milling around National Trails proudly displaying their Pump Gas Drags jackets. Both ran deep in the 9s and finished Sixth and Seventh place, respectively.

Since this year's Nats was a tribute to the Dodge Charger, virtually every year and body style was well represented, including this '69 Daytona survivor.
