See Ya In VegasHave you made plans to attend the Mopars at the Strip show in Vegas? It's getting close, and if you haven't made plans yet, you better get crackin'. Mopars at the Strip is fast becoming one of the "must-see" events in the country. The Mopars at the Strip event boasts one of the largest race payouts of almost any event, and the show field is filled with nothing but first-class Mopars. they're even giving away a car again this year. We will be there hosting the third annual Mopar Muscle True Street Challenge. hopefully, you have already registered and are planning to attend. Look us up when you get there, we'll be watching the racing, checkin' out the show cars, buying parts at the swap meet, and hanging out at the Cannery at night. See ya there.
Royal Purple Engine ChallengeBy now, we're sure you have heard about the Royal Purple Engine Challenge. If not, let us fill you in. The plan is for each builder to develop, build, and bring their respective engine combination to the '05 Mopar Nationals, where they will be put on display for all in attendance. This will give each builder the opportunity to talk to the people that are interested in the Hemi engine. After the Mopar Nationals, the engines will be delivered to Competition Cams in Memphis, Tennessee, for dyno testing. The dates for dyno testing will be late August/early September, finalized dates to be announced.
What separates our challenge from others is that each engine builder will receive a spec, 93-octane fuel for their engine. Each engine will be cycled on the dyno before they can make a scored power pull. hopefully, this will eliminate purpose-built dyno engines. Each engine must use 20-50-weight oil. zero-weight oils do not work on the street. Each engine will receive a composite score of peak horsepower and peak torque. That total will then be divided by the retail cost of the engine, and scored on cost per point of power. A "bonus rating" will be given for each inch of manifold vacuum produced. Stay tuned, this is going to get exciting.
Mopar Muscle magazine will feature the competition and highlight each competitor's engine specifics and overall standing within the competition in future issues.
As of this writing, sponsors like Royal Purple, Comp Cams, and Holley are involved, so it should be a Class A event. We hope this is just the beginning of many Engine Challenges.
