Mid America Racing Engines had definitely prepared for the competition. Their engine fired immediately, and required only minor timing and jet changes to optimize its power. This was one of the only engines in the competition that didn't push compression ratio to the limit, instead relying on cylinder head flow and well-matched parts to produce their power.
