If factory drag racers are not your thing, how about this '62 Dodge with a 413 Max Wedge that Fran Bishop was showing. The performance cars that spend their winters quietly in Minnesota garages are impressive, Chrysler or otherwise. |
Dick Landy took time to meet and greet. Here, he is signing the trunk of a fan's '67 Dodge WO-code Super Stock. Both of Landy's '68 Darts-one an automatic and the other one a stick car-were at the event. |
Tennessee Mopar enthusiast Chuck Smith was having a great day when he hooked up with Don Grotheer, the factory pilot who formerly owned Smith's Barracuda, shown here. The car will soon undergo a full restoration to Cable Car status. |

Dean Klien chose the event to unveil the '71 Pro Stock Cuda that Ronnie Sox drove to the NHRA title that year (his only such crown in NHRA racing). It has not been in this paint scheme since 1972. |
Larry Griffith, Larry Pontnack, and Joe Higler have all been associated with this Dart over the years: Griffith had it first; Pontnack had it the longest; Hilger, retired from Chrysler, owns it now.

On one of the lifts was Dick Landy's four-speed '68 car. Landy says he liked the four-speed car better than the automatic; it's being restored to its original appearance. Underneath the Dart is the legal SS/BA Plymouth that Fred owns.
Steve Atwell is always busy. This original '68 Dart was in pieces in July. "I had the engine put together, while Eddie got to work on putting the car together," says Steve. "I could not have done it without him." Ed is Ed Strzelecki; buddies who will help put a whole car together for you are few and far between. Parts were arriving and being bolted on all week long; the hood got there on the 26th (the show was on the 29th, and the car needed to be brought in from the Detroit area). So what's next on the agenda for the Dart? This original Hurst car recently participated in the Hot Rod magazine Drag Week event. |
