Also worthy of note is the correction factor that was used during the dyno sessions. Comp's dyno was set to record the SAE corrected power and torque of these engines instead of the more common Standard corrected power. Since the Standard correction factor nets a higher power number, most engines are rated on their standard corrected horsepower. Had Comp's dyno been recording numbers using standard correction factors, the numbers would have been some 5 percent higher than shown here. Regardless of the correction factor used, these are some stout small-blocks, and we'd love to have any one of them in one of our street cars.

Schurbon Engine and Machine, Maquoketa, Iowa
Fifth in overall power was the Schurbon Engine and Machine entry at 490.4 hp and 459.4 lb-ft of torque for a combined score of 949.8. This was a very strong engine with broad torque and power curves and is certain to be in the hunt once we factor costs.
Muscle Motors, Lansing, Michigan
Sporting a trio of Demon two-barrels, the Muscle Motors entry made 455.9 hp and 456.1 lb-ft. of torque for a combined score of 912.0, sixth in terms of combined power and torque.
MRL Performance, Jackson, Michigan
Though the smallest engine in our competition at just over 318 ci, the MRL entry still managed 380.5 hp and 330.6 lb-ft of torque for a seventh place finish in terms of power.
Diamondback Racing Engines, Richmond, Texas
Although a rocker arm problem during their first pull prevented them from qualifying, the Diamondback entry still made very respectable power before the first pull was aborted. Had the crew had time for repairs, this would have been a very stout small-block.
