We haven't factored the final costs of these engines yet, but we thought you'd like to know how much power the small-blocks made in the Amsoil/Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge.

While the final results of the '07 Engine Challenge haven't quite been factored yet, we thought you'd be impressed by the power these small-blocks made. This year's challenge saw engine displacements from just over 318 ci to the contest limit of 410 ci. The diversity the builders used to create these engines impressed us as well. Both cast-iron and aluminum heads were utilized, as were flat-tappet and roller camshafts. Single four-barrel induction was the standard, but dual-quads on a tunnel-ram intake adorned one engine, and another had Six-Pack induction.
Comp Cams again provided their Memphis dyno facility for the event, and Rockett Brand sponsored our challenge with their 93 octane pump fuel. So when looking at the power these engines made, remember they did it not on race gas, but on fuel very similar to what you can get at your local station.
Mid America Racing Engines, Washington, Iowa
Utilizing Indy heads and a roller cam, the Mid America Racing Engines entry topped the contest in terms of raw power, making 567.1 hp and 489.2 lb-ft of torque for a leading score of 1056.3
Speed-O-Motive, West Covina, California
The Speed-O-Motive entry utilized Brodix AMC cylinder heads atop their Mopar small-block to make 529.2 hp and 467.2 lb-ft of torque, placing second in terms of raw power.
Indy Cylinder Head, Indianapolis, Indiana
The guys from Indy Cylinder Head impressed everyone when their Magnum-headed, flat-tappet 408 screamed to 523.7 hp and 455.0 lb-ft of torque, third in terms of overall power and topping all the other cast-iron headed engines in the contest.
R.M. Competition, Roseville, Michigan
Sporting a tunnel-ram and dual-quad induction, Randy Malik's Magnum-headed entry made 510.3 hp and 442.1 lb-ft of torque, landing him fourth at the end of the dyno pulls. When cost is factored, this engine should be competitive.
