Most of you have at least heard about the YearOne Experience held in Georgia each year. Part of the event is held at Road Atlanta, where you can participate in the car show, the autocross, parade laps around the famed track, and many other activities. If you lean a little more towards going in a straight line really quick, another portion of the event is dedicated to you at Atlanta Dragway. The YearOne Experience is an all-makes event designed to rival that of anything you've ever seen or experienced with more fun than you can ever imagine.
This year we decided to get into the act and hold an event of our own during the Experience. We teamed up with the guys at YearOne and schemed up the idea of promoting a street car type of event featuring road time and a required amount of passes down the track. With the help of YearOne, we and a couple of our sister publications ended up having the entire Atlanta Dragway to ourselves on Friday.
The rules were simple: your car had to be street legal and handle a 25-mile drive around Braselton, Georgia, and survive passes down the 1320. We were planning to have a shootout to end all shootouts, but as sometimes happens, the best laid plans . . . . When Friday finally arrived, only three families were able to make the shootout with their cars. What happened to the rest of the guys with "musclecars" is a mystery to us. Apparently, we were mistaken when we heard Mopar guys like to use their cars. We're planning to do this again next year, and, hopefully, more cars can make it. watch the magazine and our web site for more details as the event gets closer.

Chuck Causey hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and brought his '70 Duster to the showdown. Chuck's car has been in his family since it was purchased new by his father. Since then this healthy A-Body has seen a lot of modifications, including a custom 2x3-inch rear frame section by James Gang Racecars. The reason for the custom framerails is the 31x18.50-inch Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro tires. at the shootout, Chuck was the guy who made the most passes.
