It's been a long time since anyone has been able to utter the words, "You going to the Clinic"? But on day with a chance of rain in December, the town of Clearwater, Florida, was a buzz with enthusiasts uttering those very words. December 6, 2008, saw the opportunity of a lifetime as Legendary Sox & Martin team members Buddy Martin and Herb McCandless got together again to once again hold a gathering of folks, and put on a Sox & Martin Super Clinic at the shop of Todd Werner.

The Super Clinics of old were basically "tech sessions" held at dealerships across the country, where car guys could get a chance to meet with and talk to people like the members of the Sox & Martin team, and ask questions, and ultimately get answers to help them with their rides. In this case, the same was true, and then Herb and Buddy got to recalling the "good 'ole days" of racing.

The event kicked off at the Quaker Steak and Lube, a local restaurant with wing, burgers and beer. At last guess, somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 to 150 cars showed up just before the Sox & Martin team cars came driving down route 275, and into the parking lot. Hearing several Pro Stock and Super Stock cars driving towards you on the highway is unbelievable to say the least.

After a couple hours of hanging out at the Quaker Steak and Lube, the Team cars fired up and headed back to Todd's shop with all in attendance right behind them. The shop at Todd's place features several, notably historical race cars, and a multitude of collectable rides that include Mopar, Ford, and Chevy vehicles.

The actual Clinic went on for a couple of hours, and when the rains finally did arrive, things started to come to an end and people started heading for home. After all, it was about 7:00 p.m., and we had all been there since around noon. It was a great time for all, and hopefully there will be many more to come.
