The 16 Trucks in attendance.
Every year for the last five years during the month of September, something unique happens on the Front Range of Colorado. Dodge Trucks from 1961-71 (Sweptlines) come together to enjoy a day of nothing but Trucks. The day starts with a one of a kind Sweptline Cruise, followed later by talking trucks, bench racing (maybe more), and telling personal stories about how the truck owners got involved with their Sweptline Truck. The day started in the a.m., assembling at a designated parking lot. This is just an awesome site, Dodge Sweptline trucks appearing on the road coming to the parking lot, one after another until it was time to Cruise. The Cruise to the Red Rocks Park for food and events, the event goes until late afternoon; some even make it longer, but it's the one day out of the year dedicated to Dodge trucks.
The attendance has gone up and down through the years, but record attendance unmatched anywhere else has happen 2 of the 5 years, with the possibility's growing now that companies like Easy-Street! LLC has gotten involved with other companies showing interest to get involved also. 2010 was a record breaking year when 16 Sweptlines that made the Cruise and events at Red Rocks Park. Many other Sweptline owners who didn't have their trucks ready couldn't resist the urge to come out and see and talk to other truck owners. Easy-Street! LLC supplied the food for the event , and 7 Trucks participated in the 1st ever Sweptline Rally, that saw fierce competition with the participants driving through winding road in the foothills of Colorado, a fun and scenic route of which some made extra stops for scenic pictures and others spent time figuring out how they got lost.
This year was the first year awards were awarded. There were 3 categories:
- Truck that came the longest distance.
- Sweptline Rally winner
- People's Choice award.
Everyone in attendance filled out a ballot to vote for their favorite truck.
Three States had trucks in attendance which has never happened before, but hopefully more states will have trucks in attendance in the future.
Thanks to those who attended and hope to see more there next year!
