So, what is Lone Star Mopar Fest? For starters, it's a late-model mopar event that you have to go to. It's a family-friendly gathering of 2005-Present 300, Charger, Magnum, Challenger, and Jeep SRT owners. The Space City LX club tell us that they wanted to create an event where owners who like to "show" and owners who like to "go" can all gather in one place. They call it "Where appearance and performance converge".
In 2011, they hosted the first LSMF with an overwhelming response of 275 vehicles, and that's not bad for a first year event. This year, they almost doubled that number. We had actually planned to race when we got to the event, but there was so much going on, that we never had time to put down our camera.
It started Friday afternoon with a kick off and reception at the host hotel and within an hour or so of the start, there was almost no parking left. Oracle lighting also held a special lighting contest at the reception, and even though it was dark, being able to see where you were going was not a problem.
What we and everyone else liked about the show was that it didn't matter whether your car was stock or custom, or how fast it is or isn't.
