Logically, he chose Mopar's mighty RB as the basis for his horsepower infusion-a .030-over 440 to be exact. A lumpy Crane hydraulic cam bumps the Manley valves, while an Edelbrock Torker II intake manifold and a Holley Avenger carburetor feed the hungry big-block, while Hedman headers and Flowmaster mufflers take care of spent fumes. A 727 naturally replaces the original 904, while the stock rearend was ditched in favor of a Dana 60, sporting 3.54 gears.

A 9-inch rear was procured and narrowed, coilover shocks were added, and 15x15 Weld Alumastars were squeezed under the original sheetmetal. Ricky's New Yorker is unusual and very cool.

Ricky bought it, rescued it from the shed, cleaned it up, and painted it Big Bad Green. The perfect ending to the perfect story. And they lived happily ever after.

More than 180,000 miles since it rolled off the assembly line, Earle reports to us that it has never been outside uncovered, and that it was his daily driver all the way up until 1983. Packing its original 340 with a Thermoquad up top, and a 727 Slap Stick, only a little metal work, paint, tires, top, and floor mats were required to bring it up to the same condition it was in when it left the factory. Earle certainly got what he paid for!
Big RedWho: Leroy LaneWhere: Chesapeake, VirginiaWhat: '66 Plymouth Sport FuryFine Print: Mr. Leroy Lane of Chesapeake, Virginia, reports that the parts for his '66 Sport Fury were pretty hard to find, but with some perseverance and more than a little help from friend Brian Crawford, he obviously got it together. Legendary supplied the upholstery for the expansive interior, while the low-deck 383 was bolstered with an MP 484/284 cam, 906 heads, an Edelbrock manifold and carb, headers, and Flowmaster mufflers. Power is fed through a TCI 727 trans and converter to a 3.91 Sure Grip packing 831/44-inch rearend.
