Replacement bearings often carry key pieces of information on the back side, since most are marked with the date of manufacture and the size. These date to May 1976, and are .010 inch under. The major rebuild was done way back during the Bicentennial, when Jimmy Carter was a new face in Washington. It's likely that it was done years before the butchery at the top end of the engine, we hope by other hands, since the PermaTorque gaskets we found under the heads didn't exist when the bearings were new.
