2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Exhaust System - On A Side Note

We shortened a piece of the Bassani pipe to equal length of the crossover tube, allowing a perfect match to the muffler. With the pipes loose, we could adjust the exhaust system enough to make the system hang equal and straight.

Here, the system is in place. Once it is in a position that we like, we will attach all of the clamps and cinch it down. Notice the hanger stem protruding from the crossover pipe. A bolt-on hanger comes with the Bassani kit, which allows for a factory rubber hanger to connect the two stems together, thus eliminating any unnecessary vibrations.

In order for us to hang the tailpipes, we had to drop the truck back onto its wheels and pull the lift arms from out underneath the chassis. On a creeper, the final bolt tightening can be made.

Tightening down all the clamps allows us any last minute modifications we want to make to the final position of the exhaust system. the advantage of this system over the pinched factory system is clearly visible.

The final product. It looks a little racy, but the sound and performance are worth it.
