Replacing Your Headliner For Mopar Vehicles - Sealing Your Ceiling
The glue we use to secure... The glue we use to secure the headliner is a 3M adhesive made specifically for automotive interiors. Year One carries this glue in a container just the right size for a typical headliner job. Glue is applied both to the back of the headliner, then the metal, then they are pressed together once the glue has setup slightly. This glue is strong stuff so make sure the headliner is in the right position before securing it. | The front and rear of the... The front and rear of the headliner are held in place by the stamped metal tabs while the glue cures. The sides of the new liner must be clamped into place until the glue sets and holds them. After the glue cures, the trim can be re-installed. | we're installing new Year... we're installing new Year One sun visors because our original visors were deteriorated and had been previously recovered and ruined. The visors slip off of the metal rods, and the rods and brackets can be painted before installing the new visors. We also cleaned up the rest of the trim pieces and used vinyl dye to repaint them before re-installation. | With the window surround trim... With the window surround trim back in place, we can begin installing the accessories. We had a good idea where everything went from taking note during disassembly, but the best method is to feel for the small indentations with your fingertips. The small recess is where the screw goes. The same method is used for the visors, mirror, and clothing hooks. | Our new side finish panels... Our new side finish panels came with accommodations for the retaining clips, but we had to re-use the clips from our old panels. These clips are common and are the same ones used to secure the door panels to the doors. Simply slide the clips into the back of the panels and press the panels into place. | Here is our finished product.... Here is our finished product. as you can see, this is a great improvement over our torn, sagging, original headliner. Don't worry about the creases and small wrinkles, they'll take care of themselves after a few days in the hot sun. Replacing your headliner is a great weekend project with a high satisfaction level because it makes such an aesthetic difference in the appearance of your car's interior. | Knowing that our package tray... Knowing that our package tray would be sub-standard next to our new headliner and finish panels, we ordered a new one from Year One and installed it after completing the headliner. Always consider how the new part you install will look next to older original parts. Now is the time to also refurbish or replace the parts associated with the headliner. | A new lens for the dome light... A new lens for the dome light only costs a few bucks and really makes a big difference in the appearance of the interior. Little touches like this will separate your car from the ordinary. | |
