2005 Dodge Magnum Exhaust Pipes
The Magnum's factory exhaust system is considered a true dual system even though it looks like only one muffler is utilized. In actuality, it's two mufflers mated together. The factory exhaust does incorporate performance characteristics, such as an X-shaped piping system that enhances flow, but is a lot heavier and more restrictive than an aftermarket exhaust.

2005 Dodge Magnum On Lift
This kit could easily be installed in a driveway or shop by lifting the car with a jack and jackstands, but having a lift available made the job that much easier.

2005 Dodge Magnum Crossmember
We probably could have snaked the old exhaust system out around the crossmember, but we chose to remove it to make the job easier. It was only four bolts, we were bored, and it kept us out of the office and in the workshop longer.

2005 Dodge Magnum Catylitic Converter
Our new kit is a Cat rearward style, so the factory exhaust was removed at the junction aft of the catalytic converters. Even with more than 30,000 miles on the car, the clamps were easily removed and the factory exhaust slipped apart with little effort.

2005 Dodge Magnum Exhaust Hanger
We found it easiest to remove the rubber exhaust hangers by using channel-lock pliers. The new exhaust utilizes the factory hangers so try not to tear them up when removing the stock exhaust.

2005 Dodge Magnum Metal Hanger
When it came to the hangers all the way rearward at the resonators, it was easiest to unbolt the metal hangers from the floor, then to remove the rubber hangers from the stock exhaust brackets.

2005 Dodge Magnum Exhaust Systems
Side by side the differences in the two exhaust systems are apparent. The pipe diameter is the same between the two systems, but the Borla mufflers are far less restrictive in their flow characteristics, and wait until you hear this thing after you do the install.

2005 Dodge Magnum X Pipe
We begin the installation of our new system with the stainless x-shaped pipe system provided by Borla. The sizing was ideal-it fit snuggly over our factory head pipes, and the new clamps made the installation a breeze.
