Cylinder Head Selection Engine View
The Brodix B1 line of cylinder heads are proven power makers. We utilized this set of B-1 BS heads on a 500-inch bracket engine and got friend Jeff Manning's '91 Daytona chassis car into the 8s. For high-horsepower, large-displacement engines, the B-1 original heads are also a good choice.

B1 Heads do require special rocker arms, but the BS units (shown here) utilize standard intakes, headers, and valve covers. Original B1 heads are geared more toward the serious racer and work well on large cubic-inch, high-rpm engines.

Cylinder Head Selection B1 Cylinder Heads
We've found the B1 BS heads to be reliable power makers in both street/strip vehicles and bracket cars. These heads utilize hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel and are cast from quality A-356 virgin aluminum, so repairs are easy if necessary. For serious racers, the original B1 heads are a great option.

Cylinder Head Selection Stage VI Cylinder Head
We've used aluminum Stage VI heads on bracket engines with some success, but have found them to perform better with port and bowl work. This bare casting shows a lot of casting flashing that needed to be cleaned up before the head could be installed. Also notice the deep spring pockets unique to the Stage VI casting. These pockets cause the top of the guide to be submerged in oil, necessitating valve seals be used even on race applications.

Stage VI heads in bare form require a significant amount of work before they can be bolted on. We spent numerous hours on this set, grinding away casting flashing and fine-tuning the ports to optimize power. Notice the efficient heart-shaped, quench-style combustion chamber and the relocated spark plug, which promotes efficient combustion.
