Jenkins’ finest hour for his two-year involvement with Chrysler was victory at Pomona in early 1965, driving a new A990 Plymouth called the Black Arrow to the Mr. Stock Eliminator crown. This was a weekend ride, not a year-long plan, and the car was owned by a New York veterinarian. When by mid-season he did not get the factory deal he wanted, he went back to working on Chevy small-blocks. Chevy soon announced a well-designed mouse-powered L79 327/350-hp Nova that Jenkins, with some success, would use to try and scare Street Hemi elephants during 1966.
