The 2015 Hellcat-powered Challenger is SRT's answer to the Camaro ZL1 and Z/28 and the Mustang GT500, according to SRT CEO and President Ralph Gilles, meaning it is going to have to possess one hell of a lethal engine under the hood.

Well have no fear. Mopar Muscle has managed to secure these shots of the 2015 Hellcat Challenger prototypes, which prove that some of the rumors infesting the internet are true. The Challengers in these pictures sport front fascia camouflage and have for a year now, so you may have seen a few of these shots already. However, take a look at the two pictures of the Challenger with the hood raised. There is a very clear view of a massive supercharger applied to the Hemi V-8 engine.

Though it is hard to say for certain, the front camouflage seems to hide a new lower air-intake making it easier for the Challenger to breathe, and the exhaust looks different, which might require a new rear bumper design. It is still unclear as to whether this new Hellcat engine will join the existing Challenger as an optional special edition step up, or if it will perhaps serve as a replacement for the naturally-aspirated model.

Either way, we are super excited about the power estimates for the car, which place the new Hellcat-powered Challenger right up in the 640-horsepower range. We can't wait to get our hands on one.
