Detroit DodgeWho: Mike DaugulWhere: Rogers City, MichiganWhat: '85 D-100Fine Print: I started out just planning to fix the Michigan winter rust. Four years later, I ended up replacing the fenders, doors, rockers, core support, and getting a new box from down south. The front rotors and rear axle shafts are converted to the smaller bolt pattern to accommodate American Racing 200S wheels. A mildly warmed 360 with an Edelbrock carb/intake, Crane cam, and hypereutectic 9.0 pistons send the power through a 727 trans. Paint is 2001 Prowler Orange metallic and a white butt stripe. Hope the shots in front of the Chrysler Museum might influence you to give it a spot in the magazine. Then maybe the wife will think it was all worth while. I already do, even if it doesn't make the mag.
Peach-EWho: Roy and Sharon HallWhere: Flowery Branch, GeorgiaWhat: '73 ChallengerFine Print: Roy says he has always been a fan of E-Bodies. Back in the early '70s he was a fan of the funny cars with the 426 Hemi. Now that he's older, he found this '73 Challenger for sale. Apparently, the seller wanted to be boring and decided he wanted a '70 Nova instead. Roy bought it, and two years later it's finally finished. It now has a 440 with a steel crank, forged pistons, ARP bolts, and a Crane cam all topped with a 671 blower with dual Holley 750 carbs.
Homecoming PresentWho: Don DodsonWhere: Gibsonville, North CarolinaWhat: '67 Dodge ChargerFine Print: I ordered my Charger while I was in the Navy. It was waiting for me on January 13, 1967 when I returned. I stopped driving the car in 1982 and parked it out by the cow pasture fence for 18 years. I restored it back to original condition in 2001. A 383 four-barrel engine runs to a torqueflite 727 and out to a Sure Grip rearend.
Wounded In ActionWho: Curt and Mary BoswellWhere: Ravenwood, MissouriWhat: '69 GTSFine Print: The car originally came from California and started life as an R4 Red with a 383 engine and automatic tranny. The original owners gave the car to their nephew, who turned it into a street racer with a blown 440. It was street raced for a few years until a transmission explosion put it out of commission. When we purchased the car it had a poor orange paint job on it. The car was virtually rust free, but it had shrapnel holes in the transmission tunnel from the transmission explosion. It also had a California road sign for a trunk floor with a 16-gallon fuel cell sitting on top of it. We started taking the car apart in November 2002. We would get one thing fixed, and then something else would not look right. I almost gave up several times. Now, it has a 383, bored .060 over with TRW forged pistons, and 906 iron heads. The transmission is a 727 with a Cheetah shift improver and a Brute 2,800-3,000-stall converter. The rearend is an 831/44 Sure Grip with 4.10 differential.
