Part 13: Four Plus One Equals a Highway Cruiser
 We fabricated this bracket...  We fabricated this bracket that mounts to the rear-shifter mountinglocation and goes forward to where the shifter needs to mount. Thebracket is made of two pieces of steel: One is 93/4x4x3/8 inches, andthe other is 4x31/2x3/4 inches. The 3/4-inch piece is welded to the backof the 3/8-inch piece to space the 3/8-inch piece from the housing.Three mounting holes are then drilled through the two pieces, and thebracket is bolted to the housing. Three holes also need to be drilledand tapped in front of the rear mounting location for the shifterbracket. |  It's a good thing we didn't...
