After installing the heater...

After installing the heater core, install the fan from the old motor onto the new one, and install the motor assembly as well. Our blower motor was replaced with a new unit from The Paddock.

Place the two halves of the heater box back together, and replace the clips that hold them together. If your clips break, you can get more from The Paddock.

We purchased a roll of foam...

We purchased a roll of foam insulating tape at a hardware store and taped it fast to where the original foam seal was. This seals to the cowl when the box is installed.

The heater box can now be reinstalled. Before you put the box completely in place, reconnect the wires and control cables. Don't force the box; when it's properly aligned, it will go. If you force it, you could damage the heater core and have the same problem all over again. Hook up your heater hoses--and presto.

The seals around the blower...

The seals around the blower motor at the firewall were in bad shape and needed replacing. Even though these two seals are unavailable individually from The Paddock, we ordered a complete firewall gasket kit. So, when we repaint the Valiant, we'll already have the gaskets.

Digital Directions: Mopar Manuals on CD
During this and other projects, it was nice to have a manual on hand for inevitable questions. To buy a repop service manual is fairly costly, and to buy a costly repop manual and take it to the garage and ruin it with oil, gas, and coolant spills is downright depressing. The best idea we've found is Mopar Manuals on CD. It's great, no matter what we are working on--just put the CD in your computer, print out the page or pages you need for your task, and if you spill something on the printouts, oh well, print a new set. The Mopar Manuals on CD have every page that each service manual has, and almost every service manual ever made is available.
