It all began with a bunch of letters that told us not to feature front-wheel driven cars in the magazine. We decided to take a poll, and see what you all thought about that. Well, we REALLY found out that we shouldn't do it. But, that doesn't mean we can't do a front wheel drive car on moparmusclemagazine.com now does it?
We found this poor little 1996 Neon with a SOHC engine sitting on the back lot of a dealership in Montgomery, Pennsyltucky, and potential owner Misty Prokop decided she liked it, and the wheels started turning. What if we did a drag car, or what if we just added nitrous and beat up on Mustangs, what about a road racer feel with upgraded suspension? The asking price was a measly $400, and left a lot of room in the fix-er up budget. It runs good, and even looks decent from 20-feet away. Well, we can't decide what to do with it, so we want you guys to help us out. Email us your thoughts, comments, or concerns as to our sanity. But, let us know what you think we should do? We don't simply want to hear replies like "drag race it"; we want details. Let us know what wheel and tire combinations you want to see. Tell us what upgrades we should make. Maybe there is something you want to try on your Neon, and you want us to try it first. We may be able to help you, but just don't ask us to blow it up. The owner may get a little upset with us. You can email us at mopar.muscle@primedia.com
Keep in mind, it's a high school girl's first car, and she really does like it, so we want to help her improve it however we can. Periodically, we will let you know what the consensus is for the build, and even show what we're doing to it, so check in with us from time-to-time to see how it's going. Oh yeah, we plan to keep a running tab on all the work, and see if we can build a cool Neon for a small chunk of change. So check back...
Here's what we came up with....
