Though looking pretty rough with its cheap orange paint job, unfinished bodywork, and graffiti on the side, our Super Bee is actually a pretty solid foundation to build on. Evidently, a previous owner was a Duke's fan so we appropriately nicknamed our project the "General Bee." |  Other than the driver-side...  Other than the driver-side front fender, our Super Bee is wearing all its original sheetmetal. |  Our car was partially disassembled...  Our car was partially disassembled when we acquired it, but most of the missing trim was found in the trunk. We'll replace the missing or damaged pieces during the resurrection of this Super Bee. |

Stripped of its engine, transmission, and interior, we took our project car to J.D.'s Paint and Body so he could evaluate the bodywork. |  It's always hard to tell what's...  It's always hard to tell what's hidden under a low-quality paint job. J.D. decided to strip this car down to metal to ensure the bodywork is done properly-the only way to guarantee a show-quality paint job that will last. |  It takes a trained eye, and...  It takes a trained eye, and even more importantly, a trained touch to identify areas that need attention during the bodywork phase of a build. J.D. pointed out several areas that would need attention and also identified the poor prep work under the existing paint. Though only painted once since new, our car would need to be completely stripped. |

Since we're changing the color of our Bee, the doorjambs, trunk, and engine bay will be stripped and repainted along with the rest of the car. |  J.D. was right about the prep...
