Pulley on You
March Performance announces several new performance bracket and pulley kits for 2004. Precision CNC machined from solid billet 6061-T6 aluminum to fit perfectly and handle high torque and vibration. The bracket kit comes complete with stainless steel tensioning rods and chrome moly rod ends for high-performance operation. March Performance has also announced the addition of a new, lower-cost, custom line of alternator and power steering brackets. Still CNC machined from the same quality 6061-T6 aluminum as their other kits, but instead of clear powder coating, these brackets have a protective silver powder coating. Head Games
Hughes Engines has gone to the dogs! They are now offering the Bulldog cylinder heads. The Bulldog heads feature high airflow potential with very small port volumes. High swirl intake ports and combustion chambers are an integral part of these modern high tech heads. These new designs accept all standard type intake manifolds, headers, rockers, and valve covers. You could even use the original cast-iron intake and exhaust manifolds. These are a stock-replacement head with power outputs of heads considered "race-only" pieces. The standard Bulldogs, which can be used on street or race engines, come equipped with closed combustion chambers, all standard accessory bolt holes, 2.19-inch intake valves and 1.81-inch exhaust valves, both having 11/32-inch valve stems. The standard heads have 440 port sizes that can be opened up to max-wedge size. A "prepped" head with 440 ports can flow 320 cfm. Hughes Engines; (309) 745-9558; www.hughesengines.com.
Motoring Monitor
The Innovate LM-1 is a digital wideband air/fuel ratio meter withintegrated data-logging capabilities. This break through tuning-tool is cost effective, highly accurate, features programmable outputs, and can data log 6 channels, 12 times/sec. in multiple sessions, up to 44 minutes. Because the LM-1 is versatile, each application/segment has its own set of specific "how to" information on jetting carbs, tuning turbos, adjusting EFI, burning chips, using with a dyno, avoiding lean-condition damage, running an ECU closed-loop, logging data for your tuner/engine builder to evaluate, methanol, diesel, race fuel applications--the list goes on and on.
