Do you hate hauling stuff in the rain with your truck? Do you think a tonneau cover will limit the amount of useable space in your truck so you don't get one? The Downey cover mounts on top of the bed, is water resistant, and allows full access to the truck bed when installed. The tonneau can be installed by one person, but it helps to have a friend around--just in case. Before you can begin the install, make sure all the required parts are there. Then start by removing the protective paper from the foam on the side rails.

Next, place the side rails on the truck. The rails are installed with the adjusting bolt facing the front.

The top comes with clamps that are used to hold the top in place.
Install the clamps on the...
Install the clamps on the truck so that they hold the rails in place after tightening. DO NOT tighten yet; only snug them down as adjustments will need to be made to the rails to get them squared on the truck.
The next step is to place...
The next step is to place the cover onto the side rails. This is accomplished by placing the front cross section into the hook area of the side rails.
After you have the top in...
After you have the top in place, it's almost time to tighten the front clamps. Before you do, make sure the top is centered on the bed sides and you have about an 1/8-inch of gap between the side rails and the front cross brace. Once you have everything where it needs to be, tighten ONLY the front clamps.
If your Ram is equipped with...
If your Ram is equipped with a tailgate spoiler, you will need to install the supplied foam shims to the rear of the bed rails, under the tonneau's side rails.
Now unroll the tonneau and...
Now unroll the tonneau and latch it at the rear of the side rails. Once you have it unrolled and latched, the gapping is adjusted. Adjust the rear side gap the same as you did the front. Now you can tighten the rear clamps. After the front and rear clamps are adjusted, tighten the middle clamps.

Once the tonneau is completely installed, operation is as easy as pulling the red lanyard that is under the cover and rolling the cover up. Right after the install, we had a serious downpour, but the inside of our truck bed stayed remarkably dry.
