The main reason for a dead battery to occur while your car is parked for a period of time, is that somewhere in your electrical system, there is a drain of battery power. An electrical "drain" can be anything that is drawing power (draining) from the battery with the engine/key turned off. Every vehicle will have some amount of electrical drain, which is normal.
