The transmission swap was simple. We just pulled the old gearbox, swapped bellhousings, and bolted the new trans in place. Although the cast-iron A-833 is larger and heavier (about five times!) than the three-speed it replaced, it fit perfectly in the transmission tunnel. To ease installation, we fabricated a set of alignment pins by cutting the heads off two 3-inch-long 7/16-14 bolts, and threaded them into the bellhousing. View Related Article
