Note that the “cage” or snout at the back for the gear to engage has been eliminated. This is fine on a race application, but without a receptacle for the starter gear’s shaft to slide into while it’s being activated, the starter will eventually wear out, due to having no support at the back. It’ll live in a race car, but not with the repetition of starting a daily driven vehicle. View Related Article
