Our next mod was to the exhaust valves themselves. By putting a radius on the valve margin, the flowpath is improved around the face of the valve and out the cylinder to the sea. Radiusing can be achieved by hand with a grinding stone, with the valve spinning at low RPM in a drill press, drill, lathe, or valve facing machine. We chucked ours into a drill press and rounded the corner at the margin. Final dressing was with a sandpaper cartridge roll. View Related Article
