AFB-style carbs, such as this 800 cfm Edelbrock unit, are constructed with two main body castings of aluminum. The fuel is below the gasket line, a feature many favor, particularly for street applications. Getting at the guts of any AFB-style carb requires the removal of the upper casting from the lower portion of the body. To open 'em up, pop the clips to disconnect the linkages at the choke and accelerator pump, remove the metering rods, and remove the 10 bolts from the perimeter.
