Knowing that reliability is paramount, Diamond forged, dished pistons will keep compression at a pump-gas-friendly ten to one ratio, helping the owner avoid having to run really expensive race fuel. Building any potent engine... Building any potent engine requires certain things be done. The guys at MM made sure that all pieces were balanced to tight specs. To beef up the bottom end,... To beef up the bottom end, heavy-duty main studs (on left) will replace the factory bolts to hold the main caps in place. Studs have a larger diameter as their full length, as opposed to a factory bolt only having a shoulder near the hex. Therefore, the caps need to have their retaining holes enlarged to allow for a proper thrust clearance. All machine work was accomplished... All machine work was accomplished in-house at Muscle Motors, and finish honing was performed with the use of torque plates. Again, Diamond forged pistons... Again, Diamond forged pistons were utilized and will give this engine a 10.0:1 compression ration, perfect for pump gas. Since this is a street engine,... Since this is a street engine, a hydraulic, flat-tappet camshaft was utilized. Degreeing of the cam was done for optimal performance. In a basic home rebuild, this step might be overlooked. This is not a basic home rebuild. After the engine was built,... After the engine was built, it was bolted to the Muscle Motors dyno for some tuning and testing. The dyno is a great tool for seeing the difference timing and jetting changes make to an engine. The engine was first tested... The engine was first tested with a single-plane intake, but the Edelbrock RPM dual-plane intake matched with a Holley 950HP carb provided the best all-around numbers. When the dyno session was... When the dyno session was complete, we had a very stout big-block. At nearly 600 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque, this engine has broad power curves and makes tons of torque even at low rpm. Built, tested, and ready to... Built, tested, and ready to ship, this engine will be on display at the Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals, where it will be given away to one lucky attendee. Don't miss your chance to win this powerful stroker big-block!
