Swapping the carb on your...
Swapping the carb on your classic Mopar's engine has always been a good trick for power gains. Now it's even easier for your new Hemi to make additional power with BBK's new 85mm throttle body.
Most Mopar enthusiasts are, by nature, somewhat mechanically-inclined. At the very least we like to change our own oil, and most of us don't hesitate to attempt a carb swap or even rebuilding our muscle car's transmission. When it comes to the newer offerings from Mopar, though, tuning and swapping parts on these computer controlled vehicles can intimidate even the most die-hard enthusiast.
Fortunately, these feelings are largely unfounded, as new Mopars actually respond to modifications in a very similar way as old ones. Ignition timing and fuel curves are controlled by the computer now, but there are plenty of bolt-on parts like headers, exhaust, cold-air kits, and throttle bodies that can improve the performance of your engine without messing with the computer at all.
The folks at BBK Performance offer many of those parts, including their new CNC-machined 85mm throttle body for the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemi engines. These throttle bodies come complete and ready to bolt on, and even include the motor control for the electric throttle. The installation is so easy that BBK claims the most difficult part is opening the hood. Even better, along with their cold air intake on the 6.1 Hemi, the 85mm throttle body gained more than 40 horsepower on the dyno! Follow along and we'll show you this impressive part and how to install it.

When compared to the stock throttle body on the 6.1 Hemi, the BBK 85mm throttle body made an additional 15 horsepower and 26 lb/ft of torque by itself. Pretty impressive for a simple half-hour swap.
