*Editor's note: If you have no problem with using an aftermarket intake, an EFI-ready part is available. We found one at Indy Cylinder Head. The single-plane manifold comes with the fuel rails and is $795. Keep in mind that with this taller intake, you will need to check hood clearance before you try to slam it shut.

The upper-plenum runners are the ones that actually dictate the angle of the injectors. The 15-degree angle is necessary to tilt the top of the bung away from the runner enough to provide clearance for crown of the bung. The rest of the bungs have no runner clearance issues.

There is no XFI kit actually designed to fit our application. So we needed to contact Kinsler Fuel injection for custom fuel rails with our bore measurements, and to supply the injector bungs. Since we are using a stock, Street Hemi intake, the injector bung spacing is not in the correct location with the FAST Rails. The injector pockets are on 4.8-inch centers and the rail ends are tapped for -8 AN fittings. No mounting holes were included in the rails, as Gary will be custom building the stanchions to use the intake mounting bolt locations.

In order to mount the throttle bodies to the stock intake, Gary machined a 1-inch-thick adapter plate that provides the proper mounting-bolt spacing for the throttle bodies. The spacer not only adapts the throttle bodies to the intake, it also makes up for the height difference between them and the original Carters. Now Frank's Shaker scoop will sit pretty close to its original height.

You can get as fancy with these as you like, but this is all that's required to hold the fuel rails in place. Just drill and tap the fuel rail for a 1/4-inch bolt.

Using old injectors, the fitment of the rail and mounting brackets can be finalized. The intake has been cut on, welded, and machined, but the resulting conversion will bring the Hemi into the 21st-Century.
