We at Mopar Muscle magazine would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in our Fourth Annual Amsoil/Mopar Muscle Engine Challenge. We have come up with a very simple outline that we feel will give each engine builder an opportunity to build and design a unique engine.
The plan is for a select eight engine builders to develop, build, and bring their respective engine combinations to the 2008 Mopar Nationals, where they will be on display for all in attendance. All engines must be at the display by 10:00 a.m. on Friday August 8th on an engine cart with wheels able to roll on asphalt.
Being at the Mopar Nationals will give each builder the opportunity to answer questions, and market their engines to thousands of consumers. After the Mopar Nationals, the engines will be quarantined and delivered to a single engine dyno facility. That Dyno facility will be Comp Cams, in Memphis, Tennessee. The dates for dyno testing will be mid-September--finalized dates to be announced. Each engine will run on the same Rockett Brand 93-octane fuel while at the dyno.
Mopar Muscle magazine will then feature the competition, and highlight each competitor's engine specifics and overall standing within the competition. Each engine will be given an overall rating based on a score of peak horsepower and peak torque. However, if the rules are not adhered to, the engine in question will not receive any magazine coverage, and you will be disqualified. To break a tie, a "bonus rating" will be given for each inch of manifold vacuum produced.
We view this challenge as an opportunity for engine builders to expose their capabilities to thousands of Mopar enthusiasts. The concept behind this challenge has, and always will be, to give engine builders the exposure they deserve to a market that needs their products.
