If you ask Todd Jones of Todd's Vehicle Accessories and Performance Parts of Lakeland, Florida, the answer is no. It seems Todd bought his brilliant black Magnum not so much for daily transportation but as a platform to build a real performance vehicle. Todd has big plans for his Magnum including aftermarket wheels, suspension, and exhaust upgrades, but like any real motorhead, he decided to start under the hood and realized that a cold air-induction system is a great way to improve performance.

Several manufacturers are already supporting the new Hemi-powered vehicles with aftermarket headers, exhaust, and the like, but when choosing an induction upgrade, Todd went with a well-known name in aftermarket air-filtration: K&N. The K&N Typhoon cold-air kit completely replaces the stock air-filter box and intake tube with a system that shields the air filter from the engine bay's heat and conveys cool air from outside the engine bay through one of their high-flow, reusable air-filters and into the throttle body via ducting provided with the kit. The system is designed for performance, but also gives the engine bay a cleaner look when installed. K&N is confident that its product will increase performance--and even guarantees it.
We followed along as Todd's son Paul installed the kit on Todd's Hemi Magnum and were impressed with the ease of installation, the clean appearance, and the fit of the parts and hardware. Everything needed to complete the installation was included with the exception of the tools, which are basic hand tools. Heck, my wife has enough tools in her kitchen tool-drawer to easily complete this job in less than an hour. The instructions were clear and concise, and the pictures included in the instructions were helpful. We don't mind reading instructions but would rather look at pictures, if given a choice!
