Conclusions
Expectations were surpassed, and we now feel confident driving our old iron on today's crowded and crazy roads. Hopefully, the development of high-quality components will continue on. We really enjoy driving and seeing old Mopars on the road and hope to for years to come. Hats off to all the manufacturers and suppliers. Who ever thought 20 years ago there would be so many available parts to modernize our vintage vehicles.
With the newly updated and rebuilt suspension system, we went from .75g stock to .88g, a massive improvement. Swapping to the wider wheels and tires (seen here), we improved our lateral road holding capability up to .92g. | Due to the big Comp Cams Magnum Street Roller (575 lift, 262 at .050 duration), our R/B motor didn't generate enough vacuum at idle or in stop-and-go traffic to properly actuate the power brakes. We tried a vacuum reserve canister, but would use up the vacuum after three or more steps of the pedal (within 15 seconds). We had enough room in the battery tray area to mount the SSBC vacuum pump (PN 28146). The vacuum pump will maintain safe braking even if the mighty 440 stalls. | |
