Chrysler engineers had intake science figured out long ago with their long and short cross-ram intakes. Tuning intake runners allows for more fuel and air to enter the cylinder during the intake stroke, allowing the engine to make more power. |  Note the design of the intake...  Note the design of the intake port-the injector is recessed in the notch (shown here) and doesn't inhibit flow by protruding into the intake runner. Port size is more than adequate for the horsepower this engine makes, and the engine should respond well to camshaft changes.
