Mopar Dodge And Plymouth Junk Yard Parts - Desert Strip Show
Though DVAP is focused on passenger cars, a few light trucks are part of the scene. This is a rare '58 Dodge Sweptline. An effort to keep pace with the sleek Chevy Cameo pickup, Dodge grafted sections of Royal Lancer passenger car quarter-panels together to form a streamlined cargo box. The Sweptline also featured added chrome bright work and a standard large rear window, which has been harvested from this example. | Sad proof that most old cars are worth more in pieces than as a whole, this truncated '67 318 Charger entered the yard after a medium-speed frontal impact, as evidenced by the smeared nose. Then the vultures set in. Despite their innovative fastback styling, Charger sales were on a rapid downward swing with 15,788 sales in 1967 versus 37,300 in 1966. The restyled '68 models would reverse the nosedive with approximately 96,100 sales. | C-Body fanatics are not left out at DVAP. Here are the remains of a '65 Fury III convertible with 383 two-barrel power and a Torqueflite. One of 5,524 built, its right-hand quarter-panel, trunk lid, and front clip aided in the restoration of a rust-belt car. Check out the other full-size Mopars in the background. | DVAP has scores of early A-Bodies in stock, like this one-of-seven,122-built '63 Plymouth Valiant V200 convertible. After yanking the 225 Slant Six, the pushbutton 904 Torqueflite, the puny 7-1/4 rear axle, and standard 9-inch drum brakes, this '63 would make a great 360 swap candidate. The year 1963 was the first year for the Valiant convertible and more conservative exterior styling-a detail that boosted sales by 15 percent over the radically sculpted '62 model. | This decapitated '68 Charger offers a stark contrast to the restored show cars we feature each month. The 10-inch front and rear drum brakes rule out R/T status, and the single exhaust hanger says this is either a 318 or 383 two-barrel car. The restyled Coke bottle bodywork was responsible for a 508-percent jump in 1968 Charger sales versus 1967. | This battered '67 Barracuda is an original Formula S car, though the special 235hp, 10.5:1, four-barrel 273 is long gone. Though the driver-side sheetmetal is badly mangled, the passenger side was clean enough to salvage. DVAP does not crush cars until every last scrap of salable remnant has been harvested. | This '57 Dodge D100 stepside pickup packs the optional Power Giant 315 mill, pushbutton Loadflite automatic transmission, and Chrysler's Forward Look corporate fender and grille styling. The year 1957 was the first year for 12-volt electrical systems and one-piece hood; earlier truck hoods were hinged at the center and opened like clam shells. This entire truck is 100-percent rust-free. | | |
