Dodge Charger And Magnum Shaker Hood Scoops - Shaken, Not Stirred

The outer trim ring installs easily with the supplied double-sided 3M tape. The underhood finish panel is clipped into place, and we are ready to tackle the engine bay.

The factory airbox is replaced by this Air Aid unit provided with the Shaker kit. This step took all of three minutes.

The four bolts holding the fuelrails to the intake need to be removed and replaced with these longer units, which will also hold the new shaker scoop to the engine. Be careful as all four are different lengths. They come with their position marked making the job a no-brainer.

The Shaker system is adjusted by using these jam nuts to change the height. This is just trial-and-error, and it took us a couple of tries to get the scoop to fit correctly.

Once properly adjusted, be sure to install the three drain tubes before the Shaker base is permanently mounted.

Once in place, the base is held fast by four nuts. Now the scoop can be installed and checked for clearance.

The actual scoop is held in place by three locking ball-studs. Be sure to fully engage them so the scoop doesn't depart the vehicle at high speeds!

The installed scoop looks so good that it's hard to tell it's not a factory unit. The style really fits the look of this car, and it's functional as well. A good combination in our book.

The Classic Design Concepts Shaker system really adds to the aggressive styling of the Dodge Magnum. Our only question: why didn't Chrysler think of this and offer it as an option?
