Have you ever thought about replacing the factory breaker-points distributor in your Mopar with modern electronic ignition but haven't wanted to mess with re-wiring your car? We all want the convenience and reliability of modern electronic ignition, but there are several obstacles when it comes to installing most aftermarket ignition systems. First, ignition boxes can be cumbersome, and require drilling holes and a mounting location away from heat sources but still convenient enough to wire the unit and make adjustments. Second, ignition systems can require additional wiring or hacking into the factory wiring harness, something most of us are hesitant to do. Fortunately, MSD has a great distributor available for Mopar big-blocks, small-blocks, and Hemis that contains the electronic ignition components inside, making it ready to run with only three wires to connect.
We all know electronic ignition is more reliable than breaker-points, with fewer parts that wear making modern aftermarket ignition systems virtually trouble free. In addition to these benefits, MSD's ready to run Pro-Billet distributors offer far greater adjustability than factory distributors, with multiple timing curve options. By changing between the multiple supplied sets of advance springs and stop bushings, the timing curve can be customized to the engine for optimum performance. Even better, this distributor installs easily, bolting right in place of the factory unit and hooks up by simply attaching a ground wire and a wire to each side of the ignition coil.
We found the ready to run Pro-Billet distributor to be manufactured with the same quality we've come to expect from MSD's products, and the unit can be run by itself or with an external ignition box for additional ignition control.
These new distributors from MSD look great, offer superior performance, and can easily be adjusted and installed an about a half hour with basic hand tools and a timing light. With all of these advantages, we can't think of many reasons not to ditch the points and upgrade to one of these distributors.

The trick to this distributor...

The trick to this distributor is an electronic ignition system hidden inside. Installation is simple with no separate ignition box to wire up.

Like all MSD distributors,...

Like all MSD distributors, the ready to run unit offers multiple ignition timing curves that are changed by simply replacing springs and advance stop bushings. This allows the ignition curve to be custom tuned to the engine for optimal power.

The ready to run distributor...

The ready to run distributor offers additional protection that your points-style distributor doesn’t with its built-in rev- limiter.

MSD distributors use HEI style...

MSD distributors use HEI style spark plug wires, so if your car has factory style wires you may need to change the ends. Otherwise, installing this distributor is easy, taking only about a half hour. mm

With only three wires to hook...

With only three wires to hook up, one to ground and one to each side of the coil, installation is a snap. MSD recommends the ballast resistor be bypassed, and supplies an additional wire to connect the tachometer.
