Before compressing the spring, test fit the hat onto the shaft and see if your marks line up. If they don't, rotate the coil spring until they do. Once aligned, compress the coil spring and reinstall the shaft nut. Now you can reinstall the spring/shock assembly in the reverse order of removal. |
When it comes to the back of the car, remove the rear shocks by removing the lower nut and bolt... |

...and the two upper shock bolts. |
Now pull back the plastic splashguard and remove the bolt that holds the brake line to the frame. |

Next, you need to drop the exhaust system. Unbolt the midbrace and slide the rubber hangers off the exhaust support. Unbolt the remaining rear hangers, and be careful, because the exhaust will drop down once these bolts are out. |
Support the rear-axle center section with a jack. Now unbolt the four bolts that secure the rear cradle to the car's frame. After you have the bolts out, lower the jack about 4 to 5 inches. to avoid damaging the rear brake hard line, make sure not to lower it too much. |

You should now be able to remove the rear shocks and stock springs. Keep track of the rubber spring isolators located on the top and bottom of the spring, you will be using them for reinstallation. |
Unbolt the shaft nut on top of the shock, and remove the washer, top hat, and the boot to reveal the stock bumpstop. Replace the bumpstop with the provided Hotchkis piece in the same manner. Now reassemble the shock and reinstall it. |

Your new Hotchkis coil springs can now be placed in the same position as the stock springs were. NOTE: The lower rubber isolator is shaped to lie in a specific position. Make sure to install the spring with this in mind. |
Since the rear cradle will need to be removed for the sway-bar installation, we will attack that now while we are here. Remove the end links holding the sway bar in place. |

Now unbolt the bar's frame mounts. The bar should be free to come out; the only obstacle is possibly the brake line, so carefully push the bar around the brake lines. |
Grease the new poly-bushings and install them on the bar. |
